《後宮·甄嬛傳》講述清雍正年間，甄嬛的大起大落充滿傳奇性的人生。

這是一部宮廷情感大戲，更注重描寫「後宮女人」的真實情感，劇中「甄嬛」凝結了千百年來無數後宮女子的縮影。
從一個不諳世事的單純少女成長為一個善於謀權的深宮婦人，她無數次跌入谷底，幾乎不能翻身，最終憑借自己的善良和聰明才智，登峰造極，成為一朝太后。
雖風光無限，但看見心上人十七爺死在自己懷裡，她終究不過是一千古傷心人罷了。

劇情介紹

講述一位出身官宦人家的漢軍旗女子甄嬛，她聰明伶俐、美貌與智慧並存。不想入宮的她，卻意外留在宮中。初入宮就吸引皇帝的目光，但受到全後宮的嫉妒和暗算。幾次受寵與失寵之際，令她看透了後宮的真面目。

《後宮甄嬛傳》是一部宮廷情感大戲，更寫實描述後宮嬪妃的真實情感。劇中甄嬛從不諳世事的善良女子，成長為善於謀權的深宮婦人，藉由才智自無數次失勢中翻身，終究登峰造極，成為至高無上的皇太后，同時體驗到深宮中的冰冷孤寂。

劇情中前朝與後宮的關係，如同劇中的台詞：「一榮俱榮，一損俱損。」嬪妃的盛寵興衰，關係到自家父兄的宦途甚至全族的命運。故事起初，年羹堯家助雍正登基有功，其妹年世蘭因而多年以來寵眷不衰。後年羹堯自恃有功，目無君上而被雍正藉細故處死，而身處後宮肆意妄為的年世蘭亦被打入冷宮並賜死。揭發年羹堯多項罪行的功臣瓜爾佳鄂敏，其女瓜爾佳文鴛以功臣之女的身分入宮，封為祺貴人；甄嬛盛寵不斷，一度晉封莞妃，卻受皇后陷害使其與皇帝決裂。後瓜爾佳鄂敏陷害甄嬛之父，甄嬛亦受陷害被廢出宮，甄府上下亦遭流放，直到甄嬛回宮才再次安定。

瓜爾佳文鴛誣陷甄嬛未果，其母家一族亦受雍正唾棄。安陵容被查出使用迷情香（凝露香）勾引皇帝之際，其父亦被舉發罪行，打入監牢，直至安陵容懷孕方被釋放。

甄嬛歷經雍正皇帝幾度寵幸興衰，最後甚至被廢出宮，入尼寺修行，終究看破自己不過是雍正對已故純元皇后思念不已的投影，在修行期間又倍受甘露寺一干姑子的欺凌，終究對長年以來互有好感的果郡王種下愛種，甚至計畫安排假死遠離一切。但果郡王巡視遲遲未歸，一度傳來死訊，甄嬛為查明害死果郡王的凶手，施計再度獲得雍正寵幸，並以四阿哥生母熹妃——鈕祜祿‧甄嬛的身分回到後宮，卻意外發現果郡王的死訊不過是場烏龍，但景物依舊人事已非，兩人都無法再回到當年的花好月圓。

再度回宮的甄嬛不再是往昔謙忍退讓的女子，她以智慧為矛、雍正的盛寵為盾，開始對付每個意圖陷害、打擊她的敵人，同時也是為了保護她的家族、子女、忠僕與果郡王，但她終究敵不過雍正的皇帝權威，只能無奈的看著果郡王死在自己面前，從此立誓為果郡王報仇。最後，甄嬛鬥倒了每一個敵人，甚至將纏綿病榻的雍正氣死。雍正死後，甄嬛所養育的四阿哥即位，甄嬛終於以帝母的身分成為至高無上的聖母皇太后，但身處後宮的頂點，甄嬛已失去往昔所懷抱的善良和天真，她所擁有的，不過是權力與地位背後無盡的孤寂與悲涼，愛人果郡王、至情姊妹沈眉莊、亦是忠僕亦是義妹的浣碧都已死去，此時的她，只能獨自一人，在金碧輝煌的宮殿中，默默的回憶當初。
