●休葛蘭破天荒親自獻唱八首歌曲，包括：媲美「Careless Whisper」的浪漫抒情戀曲「Meaningless Kiss」、、與茱兒芭莉摩深情對唱主題曲「Way Back Into Love」
艾力克斯（休葛蘭 飾）是個過氣的八零年代流行巨星，某天突然從天上掉下來一個翻身良機，爆紅的流行小天后卡羅柯曼不但向他邀歌，同時提議一起合唱並錄音。艾力克斯當然不會放過這個大好機會，只是得先解決一個問題─他已經好幾年沒寫歌了，更要命的是，他根本不會寫歌詞。 艾力克斯只剩幾天可以寫歌，如果沒寫成，他也別想重返流行歌壇了。此時繆斯女神登場，怪怪美女蘇菲（茱兒芭莉摩 飾）簡直就是個作詞天才，她重新燃起了艾力克斯的靈感…。雖然兩人在鋼琴前的合作，擦出神奇的化學效應，但蘇菲卻害怕再談感情，特別是看來很像花心蘿蔔的艾力克斯。他們將如何面對彼此的恐懼，並在音樂中找到答案呢？ 其他卡司包括飾演艾力克斯的經紀人，以電視劇【大家都愛雷蒙】獲得艾美獎最佳男配角獎的布萊德嘉瑞特、電視劇【ER】克莉絲汀強絲頓飾演蘇菲的妹妹倫達、坎培爾史考特則飾演蘇菲的前男友小說家，以及新生代演員海莉班奈特飾演年輕的流行歌手天后卡羅柯曼。編劇與導演為馬克勞倫斯，其作品包括【貼身情人】、【麻辣女王】、【麻辣女王２：美麗的要命】等 休葛蘭除了在此片中使出渾身解數又唱又跳外，就連電影中的歌曲也全部親自獻聲演唱，因此原聲帶中收錄了他多首獨唱作品，還有他與女主角茱兒芭莉摩以及飾演年輕流行天后的海莉班奈特分別對唱的主題曲「PoP!
