BMW has unveiled the Motorrad Concept 6, a motorcycle powered by astraight six-cylinder engine that BMW sees joining the K-series lineupin the “foreseeable future.” Racing or production use of motorcycleswith straight-six engines has been very limited, but BMW hopes that itsnew “dynamic and compact” engine will be able to score a breakthrough.

The new engine is 4-inches slimmer than conventional six-cylinderengines, and accompanied by the corresponding reduction in weight, itcould sit well on motorcycles. The expected power output from theengine will be the same as the 1.3-l straight-four units used in theK-series, but the torque generated will be much higher. The conceptmotorcycle has a café racer like design and interesting specs to rootfor. Scroll down for the image gallery and BMW’s press release.
